Our school day

Morning session 9.00 am -12 noon (children are encouraged to be in school from 8.50am)
Morning break 10.30am -10.45am
Afternoon session KS1 and KS2 1.00 – 3.30 pm Afternoon break of 15 minutes (KS1 only)

We provide a total of 32.5 school hours (incl. lunch and break), in line with Department for Education requirements.

Start of the day

We open our doors at 8:50am and children are encouraged to arrive at this time to ensure they are in class and ready to learn.  Please do not send your child to school before 8.50am unless they are attending our breakfast club. Children enter the school from the playground and are to come straight to their classroom when they arrive at school.

If your child is late, please try to accompany him/her into school or send a note of explanation. Children who arrive after the register has closed, at 9.05am, will be given a late mark.

Lunchtime/school meals

We are fortunate to have our own kitchen in school. Excellent school meals are provided by our cook, Mrs Freeman, and are available for all pupils. Dining takes place in the KS2 classroom. Once a week, a small group of pupils will be chosen by the adults in school to dine at the Headteacher’s table, where they enjoy lunch with soft music and candlelight.

Vegetarian and special medical diets are catered for. Children who do not have a school meal may either bring a packed lunch or go home for dinner. We strongly encourage children to stay for a school dinner - it is a time when staff and children can be together in a relaxed social situation.

The current price of a school meal is £2.75 (£13.75 per week). All payments should be made through the My Child at School website/app.

All children in YR-Y2 get a daily free school meal.

Some children in Key Stage 2 may be eligible for free school meals, details about which are available from the school office.

At the end of the day

Please meet your child at home time if possible. It is important that we know who is collecting your child from school, so please make sure that he/she and the school know what arrangements have been made if they are different from usual. All children whose parents meet them at school will be expected to wait in the school playground until they see their parent.

We only have a very small parking area directly outside the school, which is used by staff and visitors. Parents are able to access this when dropping children off at breakfast club and collecting from any after-school clubs. However, at 8:45am and 3:45pm, this area is used by parents and pupils who are travelling on foot and we would therefore discourage any non-essential vehicular use of the drive and car park at these times. If there is no alternative to bringing your child to and from school by car, please drive very slowly in the roads approaching school, the driveway and the car park and be constantly aware of children moving around in this restricted area.
